I don’t know what it is about February but I think it is one of my least favourite months of the year. For a short month, I find it always packs a wallop. This year I tried to jam pack it with fun things, which was awesome but has left me feeling a little tired.
Training
My training was, not uncharacteristically, a little slack. For a short month I took a lot of rest days, which I was actually at peace with. I registered for my olympic triathlon this month – it’s in May – so that should help me focus my training. My foot has been feeling pretty good so as long as I keep my calves stretched out I hope things will be fine.
Running: 19 miles
Biking: 3.25 hours
Swimming: 4.35 hours
Travel
I’ve been away for the past three weekends. We went to the cabin for a weekend of relaxing, to the water park at West Edmonton Mall for a day of sliding and then this weekend to Lethbridge for a school field trip. I don’t think I’ve been to Lethbridge before but I didn’t get to see much of it on this trip either – just a small part of the U of L campus. The campus certainly has a pretty view.
Outdoors
I was pretty good about getting outside – lots of dog walks on a daily basis – but we didn’t get a chance to go on a bigger outdoor adventure. I’m hoping that in March we can get out for a ski, or if there isn’t any snow, a hike.
Other
I actually did a fair amount of making this month which is surprising since I haven’t had a really crafty time in a while.
I made Patches a new bed for his birthday (belatedly). I think all the pets appreciated it:
Before –
After –

Tones of space on a new custom made bed – stuffed with memory foam and alpaca wool. The angle of this photo makes Donnelly look extra huge – he is not as big as the dog!
I also turned two bowls and a vase at my two-day wood turning workshop and made a delicious pot roast (this version results in a crispy and very flavourful roast).
I know from discussing our schedules that March is going to be a very busy month at the MacDonald house but I hope that we make the time for some more fun adventures!
